Whether you are a business neophyte or a businessman dreaming to be big, you should know that great salespeople share common traits. Great sales persons have the following traits.

Entrepreneurial. Top sales persons are highly motivated, focused, and organized. They see themselves running their own companies or businesses within a set time frame. If you want to conquer the business world, make sure that you display that entrepreneurial attitude.

Sellers of the solution, and not of the product. These people do not merely sell the products, but tailor their pitches to offer solutions to customers’ problems. They take advantage of every opportunity to market their offerings, such as trade show exhibits, corporate events, and conferences.

Always on the move. They go out and find reasons to meet customers and prospective clients. They don’t stop until they get what they want.

Keeping up with the trends. Top sales people stay current with clients, products, social trends, and what competition is up to. They keep up with what’s in and what’s hot, and never get left behind.

Experts at targeting resources. The great sales people know when to move on and never waste precious time on dead ends. When they think there will be a trap in the end, they would not only stick with plan A, but consider plans B, C, and D, as well.

Creative. The best sales people are not afraid of getting creative and going out of the box. They put on a show for customers, talk with them, find out their vision, and demonstrate the value back to them.

Making customers think. Closing a sale starts in the process so great sales people can make customers see value early on. They find the catalyst for the customer to “move on”.

Passionate about their work. The top sales people actually love what they do, without forcing themselves to actually love it. They put in passion, dedication, and focus on their job, which, in turn, make their customers love them more.

Successful sales people break rules once in a while and think out of the box.
